2022 Youth Career Expos
OELLEN hosted three Youth focused careers expos in 2022 with generous sponsorship from Maroondah City Council (March 3rd), Knox City Council (May 18th) and the Yarra Ranges Council (May4th).
Each event afforded young people the opportunities to hear from career advice experts, meet with employment services, learn about local industries and meet with employers with open roles for young people, practice their interview skills and get real time feedback on their resumes.
Highlights of these evenings included
An attendee at the Maroondah event secured a workplace placement at the video production company documenting the night!
Engagement in the main panel was fantastic at all three nights with young attendees and parents really participating in a group conversation about job seeking, how parents can help and breaking down some misconceptions young people hold
Another young attendee approached our panelist at the Yarra Range evening and they are now working out the details for a work experience placement
An attendee from the Knox event has secured an apprenticeship in Horticulture with an award winning local landscaper
