Tools Skills Day at St Josephs

The Tools Skills Day held at St Josephs College in October 25th provided an opportunity for Years 9 and 10 female and non-binary students to interactively sample non-traditional roles. The Tools Skills Day introduces students to career pathways in traditionally male dominated industries. The students get a chance to try out some trade tools, speak to industry experts, employers, and also participate in a positive mindset workshop. Students from 5 local schools came together and had a fantastic day learning about plumbing and building and construction and taking part in some hands-on activities. Students were assisted in these activities by industry workers and other young females in the careers of plumbing and building and construction. The feedback at the end of the day was very positive with a large number of female students considering or contemplating a pathway or career in trades. The teachers were very grateful for a fantastic day out for the girls and the experience that their female students got during the day and they are all keen to have more days like this in 2023.
